They work toward this goal through the deployment of proactive strategies aimed at fostering meaningful relationships in St. Louis’ neighborhoods that experience the highest rates of violence. The programs focus on an immediate response and relationship-based interventions to de-escalate conflict. This has resulted in a 30%-60% decrease in shootings and homicides in some cities, without an increase in incarceration rates.
