Host a Project Blitz Clean-up For Your Neighborhood

Project Blitz is an opportunity for neighbors across the city to get together to clean up the streets, alleys and vacant lots in their area year round.

Overview

Project Blitz is Brightside St. Louis' campaign to clean up city neighborhoods. Projects can be scheduled year-round, allowing groups to select a clean-up date and location that is convenient for them.

Blitz is a fantastic opportunity to join your neighbors in making your neighborhood better. It's your chance to help clean up the area streets, alleys and vacant lots. All you have to do is supply the energy; Brightside will supply the tools and trash bags!

Anyone can organize a Blitz project. Neighbors, businesses, schools, churches, scout troops and other civic organizations are encouraged to get involved. No project is too big or too small. Whether you focus on one block or an entire neighborhood, it all makes a positive difference!

Preparation

Get Organized

  • Review the Responsibilities of a Blitz Organizer.
  • Determine when you would like to hold your blitz. Keep in mind that Brightside needs one week's notice for tool requests and two weeks' notice for roll-off container requests.
  • Check the list of tools provided by Brightside to see what you would like to request. Be sure to base the number of tools on the tasks you plan to accomplish and number of volunteers you will have – ex: 10 volunteers for an alley clean-up may need 2 flat-edged shovels, 3 leaf rakes, 3 push brooms and 30 trash bags. Please wash gloves before returning.
