City Jobs Are For Everyone
The City of St. Louis is:
- An equal opportunity employer.
- A second chance employer.
- Hiring people who live both in and out of the City.
Why Work For the City?
Benefits of Public Service
As an employee of the City, you'll join a staff of hundreds of people who love St. Louis and are committed to serving the people with whom we share this great City. City employees are paid competitive salaries and receive substantial benefits, many of which are not matched by private sector jobs.
Ultimately, working for the City is working in public service—selflessly, diligently, and for others. You'll be part of a team that does everything it can to make this City—and the lives of its more than 315,000 residents—as great as it can be.
Benefits
Student Loan Forgiveness
The federal government offers the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) to employees of federal, state, local and tribal government organizations to provide them relief from the burden of long-term compound interest and fees over the lives of their student loans.
As an employee of the City of St. Louis, you may qualify for a substantial amount of your federal student loans to be forgiven.
Insurance and Retirement
City employees enjoy a full range of health benefits and other protections.
- All full-time employees are eligible for affordable comprehensive medical, dental, and prescription drug coverage. Spouses, domestic partners and dependent children under the age of 26 are eligible as well.
- Additional coverage for cancer care, intensive care, short-term disabilities, and accidents is available through outside companies.
- Employees can easily enroll in affordable legal insurance.
- The City pays the entire cost of life insurance up to $250,000, and employees can enroll in more extensive coverage.
- Once you join our team, you'll be enrolled in the Employee Retirement System, a pension plan that will help you enjoy your retirement comfortably.
Perks
The City of St. Louis and Barnes Jewish Hospital partnered up to create a health and fitness program that's free for all employees. The Employee Wellness program encourages employees to exercise, eat healthy, and stay fit by offering all kinds of classes and programs that help you feel well and stay healthy.
Youth Opportunities
Summer Jobs and Internships
We offer several dynamic programs and initiatives to the St. Louis City youth ages 17 to 24 in an effort to provide access to services and activities that connect young adults to jobs and education opportunities.
All participants in our youth programs are selected based on eligibility requirements, with each program designed to help young adults who face significant challenges achieve personal goals.
