Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church
City Landmark #125
Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church is located at 3117 St. Louis Avenue, on the northeast corner of St. Louis and N. Garrison Avenues. The Gothic Revival-style church was erected by the English Evangelical Lutheran Grace Church. The cornerstone was laid in June 1912, and the church was dedicated in October 1913. In 1953, the church was sold to the Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church, who occupied the building until 2019. This was the fourth home of the Eastern Star Missionary Baptist congregation, founded in 1918. Both congregations have long histories in the City of St. Louis, and have contributed greatly to its religious and social history.
