The eligible list from this examination will be used to fill both permanent and per performance positions. Per performance positions are paid $16.55 on an hourly basis, do not require City residency and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Incumbents in this position are responsible for protecting assets and maintaining order through patrolling and guarding the St. Louis Gateway Transportation Center. Duties include checking for valid tickets to travel on Greyhound/Amtrak; monitoring security desk camera systems, common area, and food court; enforcing rules, regulations and laws as directed, and detaining persons who violate such rules for arrest by the proper authorities; and submitting daily written reports of hourly patrols and issues that occurred or any maintenance items that need to be addressed.

One year of experience working in security, law enforcement, or corrections. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.
Security Officer License: Must possess and maintain a valid Security Officer License while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must obtain license upon offer of employment before start date – employer will assist to obtain license.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
