2012 Lifesaving Awards Photo Gallery II
More photos from this year's Lifesaving Awards Ceremony held at St. Louis Community College -- Forest Park Campus. The St. Louis Fire Department Lifesaving Foundation is a private 501(c)(3), nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that supports the St. Louis Fire Department and the people whom it serves. The foundation is a way that individuals, corporations and organizations can contribute to helping the life-savers help you.
Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson congratulates Emergency Medical Dispatcher Loretta Anderson with a 2nd Lifesaving Award. Again, Anderson's devotion to duty made a difference. A medic crew had been assigned a sick case, but were unable to locate the address. The caller did not speak English as a first language. The case could have been coded unfounded, but Anderson suggested that the Barnes Hospital interpreter be called. A three-way conversation was initiated, the interpreter obtained an accurate address and the patient was transported in stable condition due to the excellent work ethic of Ms. Anderson.
