Basic Tasks
How to do basic CMS tasks, like logging in, viewing the toolbars, editing pages, etc in CommonSpot 7.
Overview
Aside from some visual changes and updates, CommonSpot 7 is very similar to the old version. Inserting and managing elements is almost exactly the same, so there aren't too many new things to remember.
Some of the basic options have been moved around, which we outline below.
Logging In
The link for logging in is still in the footer under Actions.
Once you log in, the page won't look much different, but there will be a little button in the upper-right corner of the screen:
Viewing the Toolbars
The toolbars don't show up by default.
To view them, click on the icon in the upper-right corner of the screen:
Then click on View Page in CommonSpot:
You should now see the gray and dark blue toolbars.
Editing a Page
Editing Page Content
- Click on View in the blue toolbar.
- Select Work on This Page (my changes) or Work on This Page (all changes).
Editing Page Metadata
You can change standard and custom metadata under the Properties menu in the blue toolbar.
New Pages and Documents
Create new pages and upload new documents in the New menu.
Copying, Deleting, Moving Pages
Things like copy, delete, move, deactivate, etc for pages are under the Actions menu in the blue toolbar.
