The month of May was first proclaimed as "Senior Citizens Month" in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy and was later changed to "Older Americans Month" by President Jimmy Carter. The month has been designated to honor our nation's more than 34 million older Americans and the contributions they have made and continue to make to our great nation.

The theme for this year's celebration is "Engage at Every Age." In St. Louis, our seniors will be honored at the annual Spring Jubilee which will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upsilon Omega Foundation, 3900 Goodfellow Blvd. Activities will include music from a local DJ, line dancing groups and health screenings.

To learn more about the luncheon, contact the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging at (314) 612-5918.
