Overview
In October 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule strengthening protections for lead and copper levels in drinking water and outlining requirements for the replacement of lead service lines. To comply with this rule, the City of St. Louis is now updating its inventory of water service line materials including lead service lines.
You can help us improve the inventory by verifying your service line material on private property.
Preparation
- Check your address on the water service line map. Note what material the map says your service line is made of.
- Identify the material of your water service line.
- Read the Service Line Identification Procedure document and follow the instructions to determine your water service line material.
- Missouri Department of Natural Resources has also created a video guide to help identify your service line material.
- Take 1-3 photos of your water service line to include in your report.
