Grand Drive Bridge Reconstruction

The Grand Drive Bridge over Metrolink and Forest Park Parkway is a critical crossing in Forest Park in Saint Louis, Missouri, one of the largest and most visited urban parks in the country and is home to destinations such as the Saint Louis Science Center, Art Museum, Zoological Park, and Muny Theater. The Park is one of the top 30 employers in the Metro area, generates $721 Million across the region, and a key cultural and environmental pillar that supports the economic vitality of the Saint Louis Metro Area. The existing bridge accommodates multimodal traffic including pedestrians and bicyclists.

The 0.1 miles of the project corridor is found on two bridges in Forest Park, one originally built in 1929 and the other in 1961. Both bridges are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. Approximately 22,000 vehicles and 310 light rail trips carrying thousands of people travel on and under these structures per day. These crossings are critical to maintaining unimpeded vehicle/light rail traffic on the regional transportation system. This project replaces two back-to-back bridges spanning Forest Park Parkway as well as eastbound and westbound MetroLink tracks. 

The upgrade of this bridge will directly benefit the community and those that visit Forest Park by increasing mobility, safety, and access to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.
