Throwing and Growing

Throwing and Growing summer and spring camps use music, arts, and physical education to provide an enriching summer experience for young girls.

Program Overview

The Throwing and Growing program serves the Northern St. Louis community with youth programs centered around an athletic success model. The program aims to smoothly translate athletic success into a blueprint for a holistically successful life. They provide after school and summer camps, with programming that includes physical fitness (shot put and discus), music (keyboard and drum instruction), arts (drawing, sewing, crafts), and healthy living (on-site gardening, field trips, self-care and self-esteem building). These programs enrich and extend the view of academics by offering social, educational, and recreational activities that promote the fun of learning.

The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The program is operated by the Throwing and Growing Foundation: http://throwingandgrowing.org/.

Program Eligibility

The program serves girls between the ages of 8 and 18 who reside in the City of St. Louis.
