Flash Flooding Causes Street Closures Across St. Louis
Residents and commuters are strongly urged to avoid flooded areas and use alternative routes.
This afternoon’s rainfall has resulted in flash flooding across several areas of St. Louis, causing hazardous conditions and road closures.
Flooding has been reported at the following locations:
- 13th Street at Cole
- Jefferson Avenue at Madison
- Interstate 70 at St. Louis Avenue, where approximately 15 vehicles have become stranded
The St. Louis Fire Department is actively responding and has blocked access to impacted streets as a precaution to ensure public safety. Emergency crews are on the scene assisting stranded motorists and monitoring conditions as the situation develops.
Residents and commuters are strongly urged to avoid flooded areas and use alternative routes. Do not attempt to drive through floodwaters under any circumstances. Flooded roads can be deeper and more dangerous than they appear, putting both lives and property at risk.
The City will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary.
