Neighborhood Surveys

Street-By-Street Neighborhood Surveys performed by the Environmental Review Officer

The City of St. Louis is approximately 62 Square Miles in area and is comprised of 79 different neighborhoods. The person performing these environmental reviews of City-assisted projects, aside from conducting site visit(s) of the projects, will conduct a street-by-street windshield survey of these neighborhoods every few years.  There are over 1,350 differently-named streets in the City.

The purpose and benefit of such a survey is to document any environmentally relevant information useful in the environmental review of projects. The current Environmental Review Officer has performed this survey in years 1996, 2000 and 2009.

Information obtained from this survey comprises this volume of the Environmental Review Record [ERR] and is maintained in the City's Geographic Data System known as GeoStLouis.
