Overview
The Cultural Resources Office (CRO) Hotspot Desk in City Hall was created as a convenience for property owners and applicants planning projects located within City Historic Districts. It is located in the Court Section, Room 424 near the Building Division's Hotspot Desk in Room 425.
Preparation
- Take good photographs of the property and the area of work.
- Prepare a site plan (it need not be to scale, but dimensions should be indicated)
- Prepare plans or a description of the work you are planning to do
Instructions
Bring your plans and photographs to Room 424 during CRO hours. No appointment is required.

There is no fee for this service.
What to Expect
The Cultural Resources Office (CRO) Hotspot Desk is staffed by a Preservation Planner who can assist applicants with questions relating to historic district standards and proposed rehabilitation projects.
The Hotspot Desk can approve smaller projects over-the-counter so permits can be issued in one stop. These projects include window and door replacement; tuckpointing; porches and decks; garages and carports; and fences, as long as the project complies with the relevant historic district standards.
