Mayor Slay, City Development Officials Offer Support to South Grand Business Owners

Informing business owners of funds available to assist with repairs.

Mayor Francis G. Slay, St. Louis Development Corporation Executive Director Otis Williams and staff met today with owners of businesses affected by last night's protests in the South Grand Business District to inform them of funds available to assist with repairs.

Approximately 20 businesses had windows broken and other damage.  Mayor Slay and Williams informed the business association that impacted business owners will be eligible for small grants and low-interest loans to help with expenses such as board-ups, lost merchandise, and other damages.

south grand boarded upThe Program, Recovery St. Louis, is an extension of the Small Business Relief Program established for Ferguson businesses after the initial riots in August.  Today, the program's boundaries were extended to include South Grand businesses located between I-44 and Gravois.

The Small Business Relief Program is managed by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. The sources of the funds are the Missouri Development Finance Board, St. Louis Regional Chamber, the Economic Development Partnership, and Carrollton Bank, Commerce Bank of St. Louis, Enterprise Bank and Trust, First Bank, First National Bank of St. Louis, Midwest Bankcentre, Pulaski Bank, and UMB Bank.

Applications are available through the South Grand Business Association Office and also by contacting Erica Henderson of the Economic Development Partnership, 314.615.8153.

Business owners must provide their driver's license, and if applicable, police reports and insurance claims.
