Winter Shelter and Outreach Operations in Effect Sunday,  March 3, 2019

ST. LOUIS – Winter shelter and outreach operations are in effect for the City of St. Louis on March 3, 2019. Additional cots are being made available for sheltering and support of our homeless neighbors in anticipation of the very cold winter weather.

Exposure to cold can cause frostbite or hypothermia and can become life threatening. A wind chill of -20 degrees Fahrenheit with light winds will cause frostbite in just 30 minutes. Hypothermia is a potentially fatal condition brought on when the body temperature drops to less than 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Please call 911 if you see an individual struggling with the cold temperatures. Please call United Way 211 for further assistance.

Individuals or families who may need shelter should go to the intersection of Market and 13 th streets between 5 and 7 p.m. where a St. Louis Metro Warming Bus will be parked, providing relief from the cold. Volunteers and City officials will shuttle people from the warming bus to overflow shelters between 5 and 7 p.m.

It is imperative that if anyone is seen in medical need that 911 be called immediately on their behalf!

Nonprofit, faith communities, volunteer groups and City departments are working around the clock to ensure that homeless men, women, and children are safe and out of the dangerously cold temperatures.
