Hayveyah McGowan
Hayveyah McGowan is a multi-disciplinary creative from St. Louis, whose work spans painting, design, and installation. A graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute, where she earned a BFA in Design, McGowan has established a unique presence in the creative industry. McGowan's design expertise has been instrumental in her collaborations with prominent non-profit and arts organizations locally and nationally, including Jazz St. Louis, Kranzberg Arts Foundation, and the National Blues Museum. Her innovative approach and keen eye for detail have significantly enhanced the visual and communicative strategies of these organizations, amplifying their missions and engaging diverse audiences. Her work in this sector underscores her commitment to using design as a tool for social impact, blending aesthetic excellence with purposeful messaging. In her fine arts practice, McGowan's current studio work centers on the ways in which Black women create and maintain autonomy. She views her art as a revolutionary and healing act in a world that has historically denied this right. Her most recent body of work, "Sex & Other Sacred Things", re-imagines feminine energy and power by centering visuals of Black pleasure, divinity, and wholeness. Her art not only offers a sanctuary of empowerment but also serves as a testament to the enduring strength and resilience of Black womanhood.
