About the Real Estate Tax
The Real Estate Department collects taxes for each of the approximately 220,000 parcels of property within city limits. Property valuation or assessment is conducted by the Assessor's Office every other year (odd numbered).
Taxes that remain unpaid after January 1st are subject to interest and penalty. There is a clear and efficient process in place that allows the Collector of Revenue to collect 100 percent of all real estate taxes due to the City of St. Louis.
