Even though March 4 is a Primary Municipal Election, due to the passage of Proposition D in November, 2020, all candidates are non-partisan. This means that you do not receive a party ballot, AND you can vote for as many candidates for a given office as you wish. The two candidates who receive the most votes for each office on March 4 will run against each other in the General Municipal Election on April 8.

PLEASE NOTE: If only one or two candidates file for a particular office the names of those candidates will NOT appear on the Primary ballot. Instead those candidates automatically advance to the General Municipal Election on April 8. This is the case with respect to the Aldermanic races in Wards 1, 5, 7, 9 and 13 where there are less than three candidates. (City Ordinance 71736 effective 12/2023)
