St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) has served more than 11.6 million passengers through the first nine months of 2018 to sustain the Airport’s year-over-year growth at six percent.

September results showed 1,261,240 total passengers or 6.4 percent growth, an increase of 75,000 passengers versus September 2017. September also marked the 37th straight month of passenger growth for STL.

“We continue to build on passenger demand from new destinations that have been added over the last year including markets in California, Connecticut and Florida,” said STL Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge.

“But the bigger picture is more than just new destinations. Our airline partners continue to announce additional frequencies to currently served markets as well, which adds seats, improves flight options and speaks to the overall strength and demand of our region.”

Southwest Airlines launched new non-stop service to San Jose, CA (SJC) and Sacramento, CA (SMF) before summer and ended the peak travel season with the addition of non-stop service to Hartford, CT (BDL) in August. Frontier Airlines added Jacksonville, FL (JAX) in August and added a second daily flight to Denver, CO (DEN) earlier this year.

There’s even more flight upgrades for STL through the 4th quarter of 2018. Sun Country Airlines launched its first scheduled flights from STL with twice weekly service to Fort Myers, FL (RSW) on October 3 and will begin twice weekly service to Tampa, FL (TPA) beginning November 1.  Beginning November 15, Frontier will begin twice weekly service to Palm Beach International (PBI) in West Palm Beach, FL, which will expand to three weekly flights in February.

STL’s airlines are operate more than 250 daily departures to 70 destinations.

Other YTD 2018 statistics show the Airport is tracking 4.7 percent growth in landed weight. Air Cargo is also tracking higher with 3.5 percent growth over the first nine months of 2017.
