Proposed City Charter Change - Changing Dates for Municipal and Special Elections
Summary
An ordinance submitting to the qualified voters of the City an amendment to the Charter of the City of St. Louis to amend Articles II, IV and V of the Charter of the City of St. Louis changing the date for general municipal elections and certain special elections to November in ___ years with a primary election day to be held on in August of such years, extending by months a term of the Mayor and Comptroller and President of the Board of Aldermen and Aldermen to provide for such new election dates, revising the publication requirements for such elections, changing the name of the Board of Aldermen to City Council; providing for approval voting for county offices other than the Circuit Attorney, changing the date for commencing the legislative session to a specified date in January, and reducing the percentage of registered voters required for an initiative petition to five percent; providing for an election to be held for voting on the proposed amendment and for the manner of voting; and for the publication, certification, deposit, and recording of this ordinance; and containing an emergency clause.
