Increasing the Maximum Fine for Violations of Ordinances Regarding Controlled Substances and narcotic drugs,
Summary
The bill proposes a change to Article IV, Section 24 of the City's Charter to increase the maximum fine that may be assessed for violations of ordinances regarding the possession, consumption, and sale and transfer of controlled substances and narcotic drugs, except for marijuana, and for violations of City ordinances regarding panhandling, and public urination and defecation from $500.00 to $1,000.00. The bill calls for an election be held for voting on the proposed Charter change and the manner of voting thereat on March 5, 2024.
