Historic Home on Near North Side Moved from NGA West Site
On February 26, 2017, Ms. Charlesetta Taylor’s home was moved seven-tenths of a mile to it’s new permanent location on St. Louis Avenue in the Near North Neighborhood. The home has been in Ms. Taylor’s family for four generations. Moving the house was part of the overall plan to prepare the site for the new NGA West facility.

Preparing to Move

This historic home belonging to Ms. Charlesetta Taylor, is being moved seven-tenths of a mile from 2530 North Market Street to its new location at 2200 St. Louis Avenue. The move is a part of site prerparation for the new NGA West campus.

As the house movers navigate the house through the streets, crews temporarily remove power lines to allow the house to pass. Crews use the center of the street to ensure clear and level passage. Here, the house appears to be heading for the left turn lane.

Road Closed

Update: March 3, 2017 - The house rests in the middle of North 22nd Street where a portion of the street between St. Louis Avenue and Montgomery Street is temporarily closed as contractors prepare to move the house onto it's foundation.
