ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY'S CELEBRATION OF MAURICE SENDAK CONTINUES WITH PRESENTATION BY OWNER/CURATOR OF MAURICE SENDAK: THE MEMORIAL EXHIBITION

The St. Louis Public Library's celebration of all things Sendak continues with a very special presentation by Steven Brezzo, who will host "Mr. Sendak and Dr. Seuss: Where the Wild Things Were."  The illustrated program features the revealing meeting he hosted between two of children's literature's best-loved authors, Maurice Sendak and Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss), and their discussions of literature, illustration, and their perspectives on the future of children's literature.  This lively program takes place at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street, on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m.  The event is FREE and open to the public.

Steven Brezzo is the owner and curator of the extraordinary collection, Maurice Sendak: The Memorial Exhibition—50 Years, Works, Reasons, which features 50 original works by the late artist and is augmented by comments from celebrities, authors, and notable personalities. The exhibition includes sketches, illustrations, and works on paper, and showcases milestones in Sendak's career.

Brezzo has written on topics ranging from the art of Dr. Seuss to Contemporary Art. He is currently collaborating with Sigourney Weaver, David Hyde Pearce, Sir Ian McKellen, and Caldecott-winning author Arthur Yorinks on a new network drama scheduled for 2016.
