Grand Opening of the Traveling Wizard of Oz Exhibition

 PUBLIC LIBRARY AND RADIO DISNEY TEAM UP FOR THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ TRAVELING EXHIBITION GRAND OPENING

 

St. LouisMO... The St. Louis Public Library is teaming up with Radio Disney AM 12-60 for the Grand Opening of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Traveling Exhibition, on Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Traveling Exhibition runs from May 1 through July 31 at the Central Branch of  the St. Louis Public Library.

The festivities begin at 10:30 with opening remarks. The Radio Disney AM 12-60 van arrives at the Olive Street entrance at 11 a.m. and the fun begins. The Radio Disney crew will play cool tunes and entertain the crowd.  Enjoy family-oriented games like Hula Hoop, sing-a-longs, dancing, trivia games, plus get free stickers.

Listeners will hear about the 2,000 square-foot exhibit, which is a hands-on, interactive experience for kids ages 2-12. Each section is a 3-D representation of Baum's classic book and serves as a larger-than-life backdrop for learning math, science, history, storytelling, and the arts through the magic of this timeless classic 

The exhibit opens with an invitation for visitors to "follow the yellow brick road." Once inside, you'll be able to visit Dorothy's HouseTornado ,Land of MunchkinsScarecrowTin Woodsman, Lion, The Road of Yellow Bricks, Emerald CityBalloonWicked Witch's Castle,and Glinda's Castle.

The exhibit is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While the children play, adults can visit the auxiliary exhibit, The Great Cyclone of 1896, in the Carnegie Room, located on the Third Floor.
