Court Section

The Building Division's "Court Section" though its name implies is not court but rather provides property owners an appeals process before or instead of appearing in the City of St. Louis' circuit court.

The Court Section receives referrals from the inspectors of the Building and Trades Sections as well as the Fire Safety unit, Cultural Resources Office and Lead Hazard Control.  Referrals are made when owners of residential or commercial properties do not comply with the requests made by City inspectors.

Property owners who fail to comply may be fined by City Ordinance up to $500 per violation.
