Preservation Review District Ordinance

Preservation Review Districts are established by ordinance for those areas of the City in which the Board of Aldermen finds that review of the effects of demolitions on the area are in the public interest.

Summary
There are currently 26 Preservation Review Districts throughout the City where all proposed demolitions are considered following specific criteria. Buildings in National Register Historic Districts also fall under this review.

Title 24 of the Revised Code of the City of St. Louis covers the duties of the Cultural Resources Office and the Preservation Board. Below is an excerpt from that Title, Section 24, that establishes the procedures and requirements of demolition review in these areas.
