Carondelet Coke is the site of the former coal gasification/coke production plant at the south end of the city. At approximately 40 acres, this site is the largest single parcel of publicly owned industrial zoned property in the City. Adjacent property also has development potential.

Development of the site began in the 1700's. The Great Lakes Carbon Corporation owned and operated the site from 1950 to 1980, at which time they sold the plant and property to Carondelet Coke, which officially closed the plant in 1988.

Plans are to construct a business park with office and warehouse space.
