Monetary donations to recognized disaster relief organizations help fund response and recovery efforts, obtain goods and services locally and provide direct financial assistance to disaster survivors to meet their own needs.

Volunteer

Volunteers should avoid self-deploying during disasters. Trusted organizations operating in the affected areas know where volunteers are needed.

Debris and Cleanup

Teams are working across St. Louis to clear debris. To reduce congestion, there will not be widespread dumpster drops. Instead, the city is asking residents and volunteers to do the following:

  • Place debris in large piles on the curb or public right of way, but not in the street
  • When possible, separate piles into bricks, house debris, and green waste
  • Small piles of yard waste can go in yard waste dumpsters
  • Green waste drop-off locations will be announced soon

Contact Ameren for issues with electricity. Please avoid downed power lines.

All arterial routes between Delmar, Natural Bridge, Union, and VandeVenter are being cleared to be passable by the streets department.

Forest Park is included in the impacted area.

Curfew Beginning 5/16/2025

The mayor has declared a state of emergency exists (EO 81) and ordered that a curfew shall commence (EO 82) at 9 p.m. on May 16, 2025, and extending until 6 a.m. the following morning, and such curfew will be repeated daily until further order and in continuous consultation with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, for St. Louis Metropolitan Police District 5 and 6.

3 Red Cross shelters are open with capacity.

Debris and Cleanup Help

If you need help cleaning up damage from the May 2025 Missouri Tornado, call (314) 230-8070 to ask for help. Crisiscleanup.org will connect you with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups and faith communities who may be able to assist with:

  • Tarping
  • Debris Cleanup

All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need. This hotline will remain open through Friday, May 30, 2025.

The St. Louis Neighborhood Resource Center will open around 2 p.m. Saturday at Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis located at 1408 N. Kingshighway, offering information and storm-response resources for people in need.

Staying Safe After a Tornado

  • Save your phone calls for emergencies and use text messaging or social media to communicate with family and friends.
  • Pay attention to EAS, NOAA Weather Radio, and local authorities for updated information.
  • Stay clear of fallen power lines or broken utility lines.
  • Contact your healthcare provider if you are sick and need medical attention
  • Wear appropriate gear during clean-up such as thick-soled shoes, long pants, and work gloves, use appropriate face coverings or masks if cleaning mold or other debris.
