Receives 40 & Under Freedom Award for Outstanding Achievement in Government from the East St. Louis Chapter of the NAACP

Michael McMillan, License CollectorMichael McMillan, along with Brendan Kelley, St. Clair County District Attorney, received the East St. Louis Chapter of the NAACP's 40 & Under Freedom Fund Award for Outstanding Achievement in Government. More than 1,100 people attended the prestigious event held at the Millennium Riverfront Hotel. The event celebrated 150 years of

East St. Louis , 87 years of the Chapter and 30 years under the leadership of its current President, Rev. Johnny Scott. Attorney Frankie Muse Freeman, who previously received the highest honor from the National NAACP, received the Chapter's Humanitarian Award with Civil Rights activist and Olympian, Dr. Harry Edwards.

McMillan is a previous recipient of the Chapter's Regional Inclusive Leadership Award and was appointed in 2009 as a Regional Ambassador of Goodwill for the Chapter. ESTL Chapter is the third oldest and third largest Chapter, the third largest Freedom Fund Awards Banquet in the nation and number one in Lifetime Memberships. The NAACP and the Urban League originated in

Illinois following the East St. Louis 1917 riots.

More than 1,400 Metro East businesses are licensed in the City of St. Louis.
