This is the weekend for which the #1 Sports Fans of St. Louis have been waiting. The St. Louis Blues will be vying for the Stanley Cup and the World Champion Cardinals will host their home season opener. Enjoy! Go, Blues! Go, Cards!
National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week will be observed from April 15 - 21. Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week brings together people from all walks of life to make a difference. I encourage you to invite your family, friends, neighbors and fellow church members to gather for a day or a few hours, whatever time you have available, select a "service day" project on your block or in your neighborhood and make a difference. You may also look at projects listed on http://www.501connect.com/ or http://www.americorps-stl.org/ that need volunteers. Ordinary people can make extraordinary things happen when they volunteer.

April 13 – St. Louis Cardinals 2012 Opening Day Pep Rallies
Come enjoy the pep rallies before the Cardinal's 2012 Opening Day Game Friday afternoon. Pep rallies will take place from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at several Downtown venues including Kiener Plaza at 7th and Chestnut, the Tums Lot on Broadway, the Ballpark Village Lot across from Busch Stadium, and J Buck's at 10th and Clark.
April 13 & 14 – Book Fair, Lafayette Park United Methodist Church
Lafayette Park United Methodist Church located at 2300 Lafayette Avenue in the scenic Lafayette Square neighborhood will be hosting its annual Book Fair on Friday (from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Saturday (from 8 a.m. to Noon). April 14 & 15 – Brightside St. Louis' Blitz 2012 Begins
Project Blitz, Brightside St. Louis' annual campaign to clean up city neighborhoods begins this weekend. Blitz is a great time to join your neighbors to clean up the streets, alleys and vacant lots on your block and in your immediate neighborhood. The focus for this weekend will be Region 3 North (bounded by W. Florissant on the north, Grand on the east, Natural Bridge on the south, & the city limits on the west) and Region 3 South (bounded by I-64 & Metrolink on the north; Grand on the east; Meramec & Chippewa on the south; & Macklind, Arsenal & Kingshighway on the west). April 14 & 15 – GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend and Marathon
The 12th Annual Go! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend and Marathon will take place this weekend in Forest Park and in Downtown St. Louis. More than 25,000 participants will take part in Missouri's largest fitness event. The weekend will offer 10 different fitness races for all ages and skill levels. April 14 – Microchip Drive & Adoption Event, Pets in the City
Pets in the City will host a Microchip Drive and Adoption Event from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Saturday at its 1919 S. 12th Street location in the historic Soulard neighborhood. The cost of $20 per pet includes lifetime registration with 24PetWatch. Proceeds will benefit a local animal rescue organization. April 14 – Trivia Night Fundraiser for North City Farmers' Market
Enjoy a fun evening playing trivia with friends to raise funds for the 13th Street Community Garden and the North City Farmers' Market this Saturday at Old North Gallery, 2700 N. 14th Street. The cost is $15 per person or $100 for a table of 8. Farm attire is encouraged! Art Saint Louis will host a free Opening Reception and Block Party for its new exhibit, "Food, Glorious Food" on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. The exhibit will showcase original art by some of our region's most talented artists. April 14 – Rustbelt to Artist Belt Conference Closing Street Party, Cherokee Street
Artists and activists from across the country are in St. Louis for "Rustbelt to Artist Belt," a national convention that explores how the arts can create social change. The conference will host a Closing Street Party on Cherokee Street from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday. Stores and galleries on Cherokee Street between Indiana and Virginia will be open and visitors will find food trucks, art installations, street entertainment and more!
