The Forestry Division is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all St. Louisans by enhancing and maintaining the surrounding environment through a variety of services and programs offered through its four sections:

Tree

The Tree Section is responsible for more than 80,000 street trees and another 25,000 trees in city parks. The staff plants, prunes and removes street and parks trees and enforces the City Codes that regulate and protect trees.

Weed Control

The Weed Control Section maintains the vegetation growing on city property and on vacant, unkept lots and buildings throughout the city.

Compost

The Compost Section takes the yard waste generated by St. Louisians and the Forestry Division and recycles it for use as compost and mulch, which is available free of charge to city residents.

 

District Debris

The District Debris Section is responsible for clearing debris from vacant lots and alleys throughout the city. The staff also removes graffiti and assists Operation Brightside in its efforts to beautify the city.
